June and July 2015 Recap!

Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed my May recap entry, now it is time to move on to June and July! Well, to recap June, I didn’t go to any games. In July, I went to 4 A’s games. why so few? I spend a majority of the summer (7 weeks) working at a Boy Scout summer camp, which left little time for games in June and July. However, I still went to a few games, so in this post, I recap the four that I went to. If you want to see my MyGameBalls.com entry from a game, you can just click any of my ball totals that are in parentheses after the game date and location! Hope y’all enjoy this entry!

7/4/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (0 balls)

Like I said, I spent 7 weeks up at Boy Scout Camp. After the end of my 4th week, my dad picked me up and brought me down to Oakland to catch the 1:05 game between the A’s and Mariners on the 4th of July!

We didn’t leave the camp until 11:30, which meant we were late getting to the Coliseum, I slid into my seat around the 3rd inning or so. Will was surprised/excited to see me!

IMG_1790 copy

Shortly after my arrival, Kimberlee and I went to the A’s Authentic Memorabilia Stand, where the wives and girlfriends of A’s players were raising money. After making a donation, we stopped and chatted with some of the women, including Eric Sogard’s wonderful wife, Kaycee.

IMG_1260

We then went over and had a nice conversation with Eireann Dolan, who is Sean Doolittle’s girlfriend.

IMG_1261

Eireann is a very funny person, so I definitely recommend following her on Twitter. She’s been very nice to me and my family, especially my sister, whose favorite player is Sean Doolittle.

After we ended our conversation with Eireann, we headed back to our seats, where I was finally able to watch A’s baseball in person for the first time in over a month. Since it was the 4th of July, both the A’s and Mariners were wearing special uniforms, as modeled below by Stephen Vogt.

IMG_1463 copy

Kendall Graveman was the starting pitcher for the green and gold (or I guess the red, white and blue for this game?) and he pitched a great game.

IMG_1580 copy

Here’s a random, but cool picture my dad got of Billy Burns sliding into home.

IMG_1697 copy

In the middle of the 7th inning, they played “God Bless America.” Someone (I think it was Ross?) brought mini American flags from home. We had them displayed along the first row for the game, but during the 7th inning stretch, we all held them up.

IMG_1605 copy

Drew Pomeranz also pitched in this game for Oakland.

IMG_1864 copy

So did Tyler Clippard.

IMG_1973 copy

And like usual, Josh Reddick was in right field.

IMG_1958 copy

I’ll be honest, when I first heard about these jerseys and hats, I wasn’t excited. Online, I thought they looked ugly and pointless. But after seeing them in person, I absolutely loved the A’s combo!

Before I end this entry, I am going to share this wonderful picture of my good friend Mark.

IMG_2001 copy

Mark is the security guard stationed at the visitor’s bullpen of the Coliseum and he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. In fact, you’ve probably heard of or seen him before. One day, he took a foul ball off of his helmet. Another day, he tore open a beach ball. My favorite moment was from August of 2015 when he retrieved a foul ball. So yeah, he’s kinda famous. If you’re ever at a game in Oakland and see him, don’t forget to ask for his autograph!

7/18/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (1 ball)

I was excited about this game for multiple reasons. First, it was a 6:05 game, which meant I could leave camp without feeling rushed and still get to Oakland before gates open. Also, I was coming to the game with two of my camp friends, Bee and Veronica! Veronica is Kimberlee’s sister and she was my boss in 2014 and 2015 when I worked at camp. So yeah, it’s a small world. I know Veronica from camp and Amanda and Kimberlee from A’s games. And they’re all sisters. And Bee is one of Veronica’s really good friends up at camp, so the three of us went to the game together!

The three of us got to the Coliseum at 3:45, 15 minutes before gates were scheduled to open. Once we got in, the A’s were wrapping up BP

IMG_2579 copy

IMG_2720 copy

Unfortunately, I didn’t snag any balls during A’s BP. I also didn’t snag any balls during Twins BP. However, I did use my ball retrieval device to snag a ball off the out-of-town scoreboard. Yay me!

Before I move on to anything else, I need to share this adorable picture of my parents.

IMG_2922 copy

They’re cute.

Before the game, the A’s honored their two representatives at the All Star Game, Stephen Vogt and Sonny Gray!

IMG_3053 copy

In case you’re wondering why Hello Kitty is standing near them, it was Hello Kitty A’s bobblehead day. Yeah…

Playing right field for the Twins was friend of section 149, Torii Hunter.

IMG_3267 copy

Why is he holding up 4 fingers? Because this day was his 40th birthday.

The game ended up going into extra innings and the A’s walked off in the 10th on a Stephen Vogt single that scored Billy Burns. The final score of the game was 3-2, with Oakland winning.

IMG_3963 copy

Before we left, I made sure to get a quick picture with my sister. Why is it from this angle? I don’t know. Is there a straight-on picture? Yes. Where is it? I have no clue.

IMG_1605

Even though this game wasn’t incredibly special, I still had a really good time. I snagged a ball and got to see friends and family while still hanging out with friends from camp. After one more week of camp, I’d be back home to rest up and get ready for a massive A’s homestand, with the first two games closing out the month of July.

7/30/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (1 ball)

For the most part, this was a pretty uneventful game. This was a Thursday night game in July against the Indians with a whopping attendance of 13,173. Considering the Coliseum has a capacity of 35,067 before standing room, that means that 38% of the tickets for sale actually sold. I’d guess less than 10,000 people were actually at this game.

But, anyway- BP! The gates only opened 90 minutes before first pitch, so I only got to see 3 round of Indians BP, lame BP at that. Thankfully though, Bryan Shaw tossed me a ball, so I was not shut out!

I only have one picture from this game and it’s this one that Amanda took of me

IMG_1755

I was holding a WWE belt because Josh Reddick was hitting and as you can tell, I was VERY excited.

7/31/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (0 balls)

Before I talk about anything, I ‘m going to share this picture of my mom and dad. It was their 22nd wedding anniversary, so they bough matching Josh Reddick #22 shirseys and wore them for this game. They’re cute.

IMG_4187 copy

A’s BP ended almost right after I got inside, so I went down to talk to Mark, who I hadn’t conversed with in nearly two months.

IMG_4201 copy

Then, I went to the outfield for Indians BP.

IMG_4218 copy

It was bad BP. I didn’t enjoy it. I didn’t snag anything. I could make excuses, but I won’t. I was shutout, I’ll move on. Here’s a picture of Brett Lawrie.

IMG_4244 copy

And here is a picture of Pascale and I waving our flags before the game.

IMG_4263 copy

If anyone knows where I can get these A’s logo stirrups, please let me know. Because Billy Burns rocks them like a boss and I really want a pair.

IMG_4372 copy

I mentioned Brett Lawrie earlier so I’m going to come back to him. I love watching him play. I love his hustle and energy, it’s all so great.

IMG_4565 copy

Kendall Graveman was the A’s starting pitcher in this game.

IMG_4595 copy

That’s about all I have for the game itself. This was another fireworks night, which was neat since it was my mom and dad’s anniversary. They enjoyed the fireworks from the tip tip of the stadium in the 3rd deck.

IMG_4733 copy

Pretty.

IMG_4771 copy

July was weird. I went to 4 games and snagged 2 balls. This will definitely be my shortest 2015 recap post, but don’t worry, the next one will be long! My next post will be about the games I attended in August, I went to 13 games in Oakland and 3 Minor League games, so there will be lots for me to touch on in my next post. After August, I’ll have an entry about September and then I’ll give you guys a recap from A’s FanFest, which took place in January of 2016.

As always, thanks again for reading and stay awesome!

JULY BALLHAWKING STATS:

  • 4 Major League Games (22 total in April, May and July)

May 2015 Recap!

Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed my April recap entry, now it is time to move on to May! May was an interesting month. I snagged 4 baseballs in 2 Minor League Games and 14 balls in 10 Major League Games, with 4 of those game being shutouts. Like last time I’m going to recap the games in chronological order, beginning with my two Stockton Ports games. Some of my games don’t have pictures, some will have a lot of pictures. For a few games, there isn’t much I have to say, while for others I have a ton to talk about! If you want to see my MyGameBalls.com entry from the game, just can click any of my ball totals that are in parentheses after the game date and location! Hope you guys enjoy!

5/1/15 at Banner Island Ballpark (1 ball)

This game was a spur-of-the-moment decision for me. After my High School’s game finished up, my buddies Dalton and Sean mentioned wanting to go to the Stockton Ports game that evening and I decided to tag along. We didn’t get to Banner Island until the 4th inning, but we still had the chance to watch plenty of baseball.

Upon our arrival at the stadium, we purchased tickets in my normal section, Section 107, where we met up with Will. The game was a lot of fun, I decided not to go for foul balls in the parking lot, I stayed inside and chatted with Will, Dalton and Sean.

The Ports ended up winning 6-1 and after the game, I headed over to the San Jose Giants dugout, where Giants outfielder Hunter Cole tossed me a ball, which I gave away. I was also able to acquire the Giants lineup card, my 2nd one of the season. I didn’t mention it in my last entry, I completely forgot until just now, but I was able to get the Ports lineup card on my birthday, April 17th, which was really neat for me!

While this game was a really good time, the game that was in store for the following day would be incredible!

5/2/15 at Banner Island Ballpark (3 balls)

If you can think all the way back to my last entry, you may remember the bleacher swarm that the Right and Left Field bleacher crews performed in Stockton. We all got together and filled up a section of Banner Island Ballpark for a Ports game and it was pretty epic.

On our drive to Stockton, we kind of encountered this.
IMG_0931 copy

I guess the hillside along the highway had caught on fire! There was a huge backup in traffic, but we were through it soon enough and back on our way to the ballpark!

IMG_0932 copy

As always, the first thing I checked for upon arrival was whether or not there was BP and of course, there was!
IMG_0933 copy

I quickly made my way out to the dirt area behind the left field fence, in hopes of snagging a few home runs!

IMG_0934 copy

Batting practice in Stockton is fantastic, it’s a great opportunity to watch young talent take some hacks in a very relaxed environment!

IMG_0949 copy

While in the left field area behind the ballpark, I was able to snag two home runs. Unfortunately, I don’t know who hit them, as I was so far away from home plate and unfamiliar with the roster. After a bit of BP, I decide to hop in line, which ended up being a good idea because the line got long quickly!

IMG_0964 copy

When gates opened at 5:45, the San Jose Giants were nearing the end of BP.

IMG_0968 copy

At the end of San Jose’s batting practice, I was able to snag one more home run, bringing my total ball count on the day to three!

After BP, I stood near the bridge over the player entrance to the field and watched as Ports players like Nick Rickles and BJ Boyd signed autographs for the little leaguers waiting to take the field for the little league parade.

IMG_0309IMG_0312IMG_0313IMG_0315

Here are those little leaguers parading the field with the Ports mascot, Splash.

IMG_1003 copy

Notice the green jersey Splash is wearing? It was A’s night in Stockton and all the players would be wearing them during the game. Throughout the game, the jerseys were auctioned off. Keep that in mind for later!

Not only was it A’s night, but the Ports were retiring Dallas Braden’s number. Dallas grew up in Stockton and spend time with the Ports while making his way up the ranks to eventually reach the Major League Level. Of course, Dallas was at the game and loved the bleacher folks being in attendance!

IMG_1079 copy

Here is the logo that was added to the outfield padding in honor of Dallas!

IMG_1102 copy

And here is the banner that was hung up below the press box. Cool stuff!

IMG_1108 copy

During the pre-game ceremony, he spoke to the crowd about his time playing in Stockton, which was very cool to watch and listen to.

IMG_1118 copy

He was joined on the field by the Oakland Coliseum PA Announcer, Dick Callahan!

IMG_1158 copy

Dick recalled being on the mic for Dallas Braden’s perfect game back in 2009 and shared some stories. Afterwards, he threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

IMG_1137 copy

And since his number was being retired, Dallas through out a ceremonial first pitch as well!

IMG_1162 copy

Here is Ports manager Rick Magnante in his green “A’s Day” jersey!

IMG_1175 copy

Of course, Will was at this game and he wore his green Ports hat with an older Ports Oakland-Style jersey.

IMG_1181 copy

It was very cool to see the Ports wearing green since the team usually dons red and blue.

IMG_1198 copy

I will say though, it was a bit awkward when it came to the batting helmets. Since the Ports only have blue and navy helmets, they had to do the best they could and wore the navy helmets with the green jerseys.

IMG_1262 copyIMG_1296 copy

At one point in the game, Dick Callahan stopped by and visited with the bleacher folks that were at the game!

IMG_1451 copy

Throughout the night, my dad wandered around Banner Island Ballpark with his camera, which led to some really cool pictures!

IMG_1538 copy

IMG_1553 copy

IMG_1564 copy

Stockton has such a beautiful stadium, the Ports are very lucky to have Banner Island!

Remember how I mentioned that the green jerseys the Ports wore in this game were auctioned off? Well, with some help from my good buddy Ralliney, I ended up winning the auction for the jersey of the Ports manager, Rick Magnante!

IMG_1590 copy

The final score of the game was 8-7, a nail-biting win for the Ports!

IMG_1595 copy

At the top of the 9th inning, all of the jersey auction winners gathered in the concourse together so that after the game, we could go down onto the field to get our jerseys. While we were up there, in the concourse behind the third base dugout, a foul ball flew my way! Except I didn’t have my glove… So I missed it…

Well once the game was over, I made my way down onto the field with the rest of auction winners and met up with Ports manager Rick Magnante, who was an incredibly nice guy!

IMG_1601 copy

He noticed my right field bleacher shirt, so we talked about the bleachers for a bit, then he asked me how long I’ve been going to Ports games, if I have any other Ports jerseys, and just got to know me better. Rick Magnante is one of the nicest coaches I have ever met! Here we are with his jersey!

IMG_1621 copy

Several other bleacher folks won jerseys, including Will!

IMG_1623 copy

Afterwards, a bunch of us gathered down on the field for a selfie with Ports catcher Nick Rickles, who we came to know through social media and going to games, he is a wonderful guy!

IMG_1630 copy

Here is the selfie that Bryanne took!

11182210_10205042157145965_8044351593361675114_n

After we got back up to the concourse, the group of us who had won jerseys, 9 of us in total, gathered for a photo.

IMG_1636 copy

Between BP, the game itself with the bleacher friends and the jersey auction, this game was a lot of fun!

5/11/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (0 balls)

The Red Sox were in town and I was pretty stoked for batting practice! However, their BP ended up being awful. I decided to skip batting practice for this game and just enjoy myself. And that I did, it was a fun day! On to the next game!

5/12/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (0 balls)

Again, I was excited for Red Sox BP, but quickly let down. It was the fleece blanket giveaway day, which meant lines were massive. The crowd during BP was awful, so it was tough to snag anything. I had an AP test the next morning too, so I ended up leaving partway through the game. Not very exciting,  I’m sorry.

5/15/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (1 ball)

This Friday night game against the White Sox was a lot of fun. Pascale and I actually went to this game by ourselves, so it was really fun just to have some time as siblings. I snagged one ball during batting practice, an Adam Eaton home run in right field. Here’s a picture of me and Pascale after the game!

IMG_0534

5/16/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (2 balls)

On this Saturday evening, I was lucky enough to snag two balls during batting practice. The first ball was thrown to me in right field by A’s lefty Drew Pomeranz. The second ball was a White Sox home run that I snagged in right field as well. Unfortunately, since it was a White Sox player, I’m not sure who hit it.

Here I am waving my flag as lineups were announced prior to first pitch.

IMG_0575

On the mound for the A’s was the Mexican Mamba, Jesse Chavez!

IMG_3358 copy

It was nice to see my favorite player, Brett Lawrie, in the lineup!

IMG_3415 copy

Also- It was superhero fireworks night! After the game, there were fireworks with different superhero songs playing in the background. Of course, A’s Mascot Stomper had to look the part!

IMG_3686 copy

In case you’re wondering why there is a kid with a base in his hand, the A’s do this game on the field every Saturday were a kid is given 30 second to run to 3rd base from the left field flag pole, grab the base and bring it back to the left field corner. This kid was fast!

IMG_3695 copy

Here’s a cool picture my dad got from the second deck of us in Section 149.

IMG_3745 copy

And here’s an even cooler picture he got of the Coliseum while roaming the 200 level!

IMG_3752 copy

The fireworks after the game were pretty spectacular, we went down on the field for them. All around, it was a very fun day!

5/17/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (0 balls)

Little League Day. Oh joy…
IMG_3766 copy

Little League Day means no batting practice, which means sad Nick.

IMG_3772 copy

While I could have gone for tossups from the pitchers that were playing catch, I knew they would likely give most of their balls to the little leaguers during the pre-game parade. Instead, I just sat back in my seat and relaxed. It was kinda nice. My dad did get a few cool photos during the parade. Some kid ran across the outfield grass instead of staying n the warning track like he was supposed to, so a security guard had to chase after him.

IMG_3812 copyIMG_3816 copyIMG_3819 copy

That was probably the highlight of the day for me in non-game action. Let’s move on to the next game!

5/25/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (1 ball)

Memorial Day! This was a day I was excited about for a really long time. Back in March, Kimberlee and I started brainstorming banner ideas for our favorite player, Brett Lawrie.  After over 2 months of brainstorming and photoshopping and with the help of our good friend Ross, we had our final banner design, which we sent off to have made in time for this game!

IMG_4433 copy

Let’s break down the elements of our banner:

  • Made in Canada: Brett was born in Canada
  • Producing for Oakland: Well he plays for the Oakland Athletics
  • Lawrie’s Inked Energy: Brett Lawrie has lots of tattoos (he is very inked) and is a player with a lot of energy
  • Only 15 calories: He wore #15 for the A’s.
  • The Stars on each side of the can: That star is one of the many tattoos Brett Lawrie has

So we essentially created a fake energy drink called “Lawrie’s Inked Energy” and turned it into a banner. It was an awesome process!

Right when gates opened, I ran down to the left field corner where A’s pitchers were playing catch, in hopes of snagging a ball. Unfortunately, I had no luck.

IMG_0651

IMG_4575 copy

Soon after I went down there, the Tigers started taking batting practice, so I decided to move to left field.

IMG_4623 copy

While I was in left, Tigers reliever Joakim Soria tossed me my first and only ball of the day.

After BP concluded, I headed back to right field, where Kimberlee and I hung up our new banner, which was a very exciting moment!

IMG_4857 copy

Since it was Memorial Day, the A’s and Tigers were both wearing camo hats and jerseys and personally, I really liked the ones the A’s wore. Here is Josh Reddick saluting the fans in RF before the game got underway!

IMG_4886 copy

The A’s starter for this game was Jesse Hahn and he looked sharp all day long!

IMG_4900 copy

Remember how I mentioned we hung up our banner for the first time? Well my dad was kind enough to walk to the other side of the stadium to get a picture of it hanging up alongside the rest of the banners in right field. This was such a cool moment for us!

IMG_4980 copy

While my dad was walking around the stadium, he was able to get cool pictures of guys like Mark Canha

IMG_5047 copy

And Jesse Hahn, who looks very sharp in the camo and high socks!

IMG_5094 copy

Well Jesse pitched a really good game. A really good game. He threw a  complete-game shutout for the A’s, allowing only 4 hits and striking out five.

IMG_5505 copy

While that was a fun game, the next few games after this were just as, if not more fun!

5/28/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (1 ball)

This was another giveaway game in Oakland and it was a pretty awesome giveaway at that! It was the Stephen Vogt referee bobblehead giveaway. Long story short, when Jonny Gomes was doing an interview on MLB Network’s Intentional Talk in 2014, he brought out Vogt, who did a fantastic and hilarious referee gimmick. Check that out HERE.

Well that interview blew up and led to the creation of this bobblehead:
Oakland-Athletics_Stephen-Vogt-Bobblehead_5-28-2015

Yes, the bobblehead did have sound. As you can see in the picture above, it had 3 separate sound bytes. The first two were from his appearance on MLB Network, the 3rd one was an audio clip of the right field bleachers doing the “I Believe in Stephen Vogt” chant. So cool!!

Given that it was a Yankees game and the crowd was so big because of the giveaway, batting practice was tough. I was able to snag one ball though, a Yankees home run that I gave away to a nearby kid.

After BP, I just sat back and relaxed, enjoying the game. I spent some time visiting with my friend Taylor, who was sitting with her family in the left field corner of the 200 level.

IMG_0678

After two games that were rough ballhawking-wise, I was looking forward to the next two in store!

5/29/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (4 balls)

Before gates opened, I was very excited about this game. The line was short and the gates opened 2 hours early. I was ready for a good day!

Things got off to a solid start during A’s BP, as I snagged two quick balls.

IMG_5547 copy

The first was a home run hit by Ike Davis, the second was a tossup from A’s bullpen coach Scott Emerson.

IMG_0686

One of the cool connections I have with Emerson is that we use the same brand of glove, 44 Pro Gloves! It’s not a well-known brand, so when I flashed my glove his way, he hooked me up immediately, we had a good conversation about our gloves as well!

After A’s BP, I had two balls and for the short amount of time that BP lasted, I was very pleased!

IMG_5568 copy

After A’s BP, Kimberlee’s sister Amanda noticed this…

IMG_0689

Here’s a close-up my dad got!

IMG_5572 copy

Yup! It was stuck in the gutter! Keep this in mind for my next game…

Well during Yankees BP, I snagged one more ball, a tossup from catcher John Ryan Murphy. After BP ended, I noticed this ball sitting on the out-of town scoreboard…

IMG_5578 copy

See the pen and glove? Someone apparently tried to use Zack Hample’s glove trick and kind of failed. Well after putting some duct tape on the end of my flag and taping it to another flag, I was able to lower my device down to grab the ball.

IMG_5586 copy

Boom! My 4th ball on the day. Here is a picture of me (and my 4 balls (one of them is cut out of the picture, but I promise it’s there) and Pascale with our friend Satoshi, who snagged 3 balls of his own during BP!

IMG_0694

Sometime during batting practice, Will took this photo that I absolutely love!

IMG_5627 copy

Carlos, Ross and my parents are some of the older members of the bleacher fanily and they were all wearing grey jerseys, so it made for an awesome picture!

Before the game got underway, I met up with Taylor, who you may remember me mentioning in the last game summary. She had just graduated from college, so I had to get a picture with her!

IMG_0690

On the mound for Oakland was ace Sonny Gray!

IMG_5914 copy

Here’s a picture of my mom waving my flag while I was out getting food. I love my mom, she is so incredibly supportive of me, it’s awesome!

IMG_6190 copy

My dad, as always, got a ton of fantastic pictures over the course of the evening. First, here is a picture of Josh Reddick running.

IMG_6360 copy

And here is a 3-photo sequence showing first baseman Stephen Vogt picking a throw to first as Alex Rodriguez runs down the line. So cool!

IMG_6418 copyIMG_6419 copyIMG_6421 copy

My dad walked around the Coliseum like he normally does and as always, he got some incredible pictures from angles I don’t normally get to see during a game!

IMG_6549 copy

Isn’t the Coliseum beautiful?

IMG_6597 copy

Seriously? Unbelievable! If you haven’t noticed yet, my dad is a very good photographer.

IMG_6653 copy

Here’s a neat shot he got of me waving my flag, right above the new Brett Lawrie banner!

IMG_6701 copy

The last cool picture I will share from this game is this one of Mark Canha. Nothing special, but I just really like it!

IMG_6730 copy

Despite the Yankees tacking on a run in the 9th, the A’s held the lead and ended up winning 5-4!

IMG_6909 copy

After several rough games from a ballhawking standpoint, this was exactly what I needed to get my mojo going. On to Saturday!

5/30/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (5 balls)

Coming off a 4-ball day, I was excited for another day of BP!

The night before, I talked with a friend of mine named Ric who works for the A’s productions team and often runs the out-of-town scoreboard in right field. I told him about the ball in the gutter that Amanda had spotted and he told me to check back in with him the next day.

Right when I ran in, Ric called up to me and told me to look in the row behind me. And sure enough, there it was, laying in the second row! The ball that had been stuck in the gutter the day before! Thanks Ric!

Minutes later, Amanda came down to the bleachers and I showed her the ball, which I gave to her since she was the one that originally spotted it. I didn’t realize it at the time, but that was actually the 300th professional baseball I had snagged (adding my totals for the Majors and Minors). I was sad to not have it anymore, but the way that I acquired it was still very cool!

I didn’t snag anything during A’s BP, but while the Yankees were hitting, John Ryan Murphy hooked me up again with a tossup, my second ball on the day.

Eventually, I headed over to left field, where reliever David Carpenter hooked me up with a ball, my 3rd of the day.

After BP ended, I went back to right field, where I found not one, but TWO balls sitting on the out-of-town scoreboard. Of course, I got both of them with ease.

IMG_0730IMG_0729

How did I get them so easily? Notice that attachment on the end of my flagpole in the two pictures above? Well that’s the head of a lightbulb changer. I taped it onto the end of my flag.

IMG_0732

And that made it A LOT easier to grab balls off the scoreboard. They fit perfectly inside the attachment and made retrieving the two balls a very simple process.

So in total, I snagged FIVE balls at this game. I know that may not be a lot for most ballhawks, but for me, that was a pretty significant accomplishment, so Iw as pleased with myself.

As far as the game goes, the A’s lost 5-3. Thankfully though, I had one more game left in me for the month of May!

5/31/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (0 balls)

There isn’t a whole lot to say about this game. It was a Sunday afternoon game with no BP. As you can see above, I didn’t snag any balls. I also don’t have any pictures from this game. All in all, it was a good game. The A’s won 3-0 and it was my last game for over a month. At the start of June, I was headed off to work at a Boy Scout summer camp, which means my next entry will jump straight into July.

May was an incredibly fun month for me. This entry was nearly 4,000 words, so thank you all for sticking around for all of this. I apologize for this being shorter than my April entry, but there was just less for me to talk about in some aspects. My next post will be about the games I attended in June and July. I didn’t go to any baseball game sin June, but in July, I went to 4 A’s games and no minor league games, so my next entry will be much shorter than normal.

As always, thanks again for reading and stay awesome!

MAY BALLHAWKING STATS:

April 2015 Recap!

April was an incredible month for me to say the least. Over the course of the month, I went to 8 Major League Baseball games and snagged 17 balls. I also went to 2 Minor League Baseball games and snagged 9 balls. I’ll be going in chronological order, starting out with the Bay Bridge exhibition series. You can click any of my ball totals that are in parentheses to see my MyGameBalls.com entry from the game!

4/2/15 at AT&T Park (3 balls)

While these first two games were technically exhibition games that don’t count in the standings, I’m going to count by ballhawking stats from these games with with my regular season stats because the attendance was equal to that of a regular season game, plus they were played at Major League Stadiums between Major League teams.

My dad and I hadn’t been to a game in San Francisco since 2013, so I was excited to be back, even though it is the home of the Giants.

IMG_4392 copyI had no luck from a ballhawking standpoint during Giants BP, but it did end pretty quickly after I got in, so there were not many chances anyway. I was excited when the A’s took the field though, as I was decked out in A’s gear, so I expected to get a few balls. IMG_4539 copyMy first ball of the day was a tossup from A’s pitcher Brock Huntzinger. After he did finished routine catch at the start of BP, he jogged out to the outfield with the ball still in his glove. He looked into the crowd, spotted me and fired me the ball for my first of the day!

Ball #2 was a Mark Canha home run, which I had to run about 5 or 7 rows back for. AT&T Park has typical bleacher seating, with no seat backs, which makes it easier for ballhawks to run through the seats. Canha’s homer landed near the top of the section and I was able to catch it on the bounce.

The rest of A’s BP was pretty dead, Billy Butler and Brett Lawrie hit some good shots, but they were either too far away from me, or just didn’t make it over the fence. For me, one of the best parts of Batting Practice was seeing A’s farmhand and family friend Seth Frankoff decked on the field, in green and gold. The A’s had called him up for the exhibition series, so he was suited up alongside the rest of the team.IMG_4888 copyI stayed in the outfield until the end of BP, so I could not say hello to him. However, when I did get over to my seat down the first base line, I found several other members of the A’s Right Field Bleacher crew hanging out. After talking with everyone for a while, A’s catcher Stephen Vogt posed for a picture with us.IMG_4922 copyHere is how the picture turned out, it was a selfie taken by Bryanne! IMG_9834After that picture, my dad got a shot of me with the two balls that I snagged during A’s BP.IMG_4946 copy I put the two balls away and noticed A’s bullpen catcher Casey Chavez walking out towards the bullpen area. He had a ball in his hand, so I called out to him and he flipped it my way, my 3rd and final ball on the day. The game got underway just after 7, here is the view from our seats. IMG_9819During the game, I found out that one of my friends from school was also at the game, and that she had pretty good seats. I met up with her in the concourse and followed her through a maze of tunnels, emerging here…IMG_9821 Holy Toledo! We were literally a few rows behind home plate. Even though I didn’t have a ticket for the seat, I was able to sit there for about an inning before I was kicked out. While I was leaving, a streaker jumped onto the field and my dad was able to get a lot of great pictures of him. Streaker_edited-1After being kicked out, I went up to the Right Field area, where several members of the Bleacher crew were. While we were up there, we got to see switch pitcher Pat Venditte pitch in person, which was really special!Screen Shot 2016-01-03 at 4.19.24 PM I stayed in Right Field for the final 3 innings. The TV cameras ended up finding us towards the end, here is a screen grab! IMG_9832After the A’s closed out the game, Bryanne took another selfie of the bleacher people.IMG_9835

It was a great day and I could not wait to be back at the Coliseum in two days!

4/4/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (5 balls)

This was  my first time back at the Coliseum since September of 2014 and I was incredibly excited. As soon as my family got to the stadium, I went to the team store and picked up a shirsey for my favourite player on the A’s, Brett Lawrie.IMG_6114 copy Afterwards, I took a picture of Will and the newest banner for the bleachers! IMG_6095 copySince Seth was with the team for this 3-game series, Will wanted to make sure we had a banner for him! Will then took this fantastic photo of me and my family!FullSizeRender When the gates opened around 11, the A’s were in the middle of Batting Practice, and I was stoked for it! IMG_6171 copyMy first ball of the day was a tossup from Seth, who was standing on the field right below Section 149. My second ball of the day was a Matt Olson home run, which I gave away to a bleacher friend. Ball #3 was a tossup from A’s pitcher Kendall Graveman, who they acquired from Toronto in the Josh Donaldson trade during the offseason. That was my last ball of A’s BP, but I wasn’t the only person in my family who snagged a ball… My mom also got a ball, her first ever baseball ever at a professional game, and it was a home run during A’s BP!IMG_6178 copy One thing to note would be the scoreboards for this game… IMG_6215 copyWhile the A’s had replaced and upgraded the scoreboards in the offseason, they were still displaying the old format on the new ones, missing pixels and all. There was a big unveil scheduled for Opening Day!

I had 3 balls at the end of A’s BP and I was hungry for more, so I was excited for Giants Batting Practice to start.IMG_6262 copyI went to left field for the first few groups of Giants BP and quickly came up with an Angel Pagan home run, which he ripped down the line. After this, I went back to right field, where Hunter Strickland tossed me up a ball, my 5th of the day! That was it for me during BP, here is a picture that Will took of me and the 4 balls I kept from the day.IMG_9891 As usual, I was sitting in Section 149 of the RF Bleachers, so this was my view for the game. IMG_9878While Drew Pomeranz started the game for Oakland, it was incredibly special to get the chance to see former Athletic Barry Zito in an A’s uniform for the first time since 2006.IMG_7635 copy The pitcher that followed Zito in the game was Doolittle. Not all-star closer Sean Doolittle, but his brother, Ryan, who also pitches in the A’s organization. He, like Frankoff, was called up for this series. IMG_7851 copySpeaking of Seth Frankoff… Guess who pitched the 8th inning for the A’s?IMG_8002 copy You guessed it, it was Seth! And he did an amazing job, striking out all 3 San Francisco hitters he faced in the inning. Like they did with the main scoreboards, the A’s also displayed the old ribbon boards along the second deck. IMG_9884The A’s ended up losing 2-1, but it was still a really fun day, considering I snagged 5 baseballs and got to see Barry Zito, Ryan Doolittle and Seth Frankoff all pitch in person. Opening Day was 2 days away…

4/6/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (1 ball)

Opening Day! This was my 3rd straight Opening Day in Oakland I was stoked! The day started off very early, with some tailgating. We hung out with the Section 148 crew in the parking lot, where there was lots of cornhole action going on, including Ryan (left) and Bryanne and Tike (right).Screen Shot 2016-01-03 at 5.19.26 PMFellow 149er James (Also known as DJ Eden Roc) DJ’d the tailgate, which was a lot of fun.

IMG_9097 copyAfter spending time at the 148 tailgate, I headed over to the tailgate hosted by the local clothing company, Oaklandish, where they had a prize wheel set up, which you can see Carlos (left) and Satoshi (right) spinning below!Screen Shot 2016-01-03 at 5.19.37 PMOn our way up to the gate, we ran into Will MacNeil, one of the most well-known bleacher folks, as he is the creater of the Balfour Rage.

IMG_9070 copyA’s BP was almost done when the stadium opened at 5:05pm, so I was shutout for a while once I was inside. My only ball of the day was a Rougned Odor home run, which I snagged in right field.

The A’s starting pitcher for this game was Sonny Gray, who led the A’s to an 8-0 victory, their first Opening Day win since 2004. WowIMG_9188 copyAfter the game, my mom, sister and I took a picture together.
IMG_9435 copyAll in all, this was a great day. I snagged a ball, the A’s won and I had a great time with my family and friends!

4/10/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (2 balls)

This was the first real giveaway game of the season and it was going to be a popular one: a Sonny Gray replica jersey. But it wasn’t just any jersey, it was a road jersey. So it was a Sonny Gray grey jersey. Good stuff. Well my family got to the Coliseum super early, well before the gates opened.

When the gates opened at 5:05, we headed inside. Check out how huge the line outside was? Crazy!
IMG_9454 copy Once inside, the A’s were already well into BP, with two groups done hitting and a third almost done. IMG_9524 copy
Long story short, I was shut out during the A’s portion of BP. After the A’s left the field, the Mariners took the field and began throwing.
IMG_9618 copy My first ball of the day was a tossup in right field from Mariners pitcher Yoervis Medina. I used a ball retrieval device to snag my second and last ball of the day off the out-of-town scoreboard. In case you’re wondering, I taped together two flags and put some duct tape on the end of one to pick up the ball. I ended up giving away both balls that I snagged at this game.IMG_9715 copy
After A’s Batting Practice, a group of bleacher folks took a cool picture. Given that Friday, April 10th was National Sibling Day, all of the groups of siblings that sit in the bleachers got together for a group shot. From left to right in the back row, you have sisters Amber and Rebekah, myself and my sister Pascale and sisters Kimberlee and Amanda. In the front, Taylor, her brother Dylan and their sister Jordyn.
IMG_9846 copy One of the most notable moments from the game was Oakland rookie Mark Canha hitting his first Major League home run. Since he’s a righty pull hitter and I sit in right field, I was nowhere near where it landed, but it was still a cool moment to witness. IMG_0017 copy
This game was an absolute offensive explosion for the A’s, as the final score wound up being 12-0. The Mariners only had 3 hits all game, while the A’s were a run-producing machine. Ben Zobrist, Stephen Vogt, Sam Fuld and Billy Butler each recorded 1 RBI , while Mark Canha and Marcus Semien drove in two runs and Ike Davis finished the night with 4 runs batted in.

I liked getting to watch new fireballing relief pitcher RJ Alvarez take the mound in this game. We acquired Alvarez from San Diego in the Derek Norris trade.
IMG_0643 copy Alvarez pitched a scoreless 9th, with 1 strikeout, giving the A’s their third blowout win in 5 days. IMG_0682 copy

While this game was fun, it did not even come close to comparing to the next day…

4/11/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (3 balls)

Holy moly was this going to be a big day. When I woke up, I just saw it as another Saturday game, except that I would be running a 5K in the morning. I woke up around 7 and my entire family headed of to the ballpark around 7:30, getting to Oakland at 8.
IMG_0698 copy Pascale and I were going to be running in the A’s inaugural PlayBall 5k, which would start at Home Plate on the field and finish in the parking lot. Once we signed in and got our race bibs, we jumped in the line forming at A Gate. IMG_0700 copy
Once they opened the gate to the Coliseum, we had to stand inside the tunnel and wait to go down onto the field.
IMG_0706 copy
Eventually, the opened the gate to the left field stairs and we headed down to the field.
IMG_0711 copy
We walked along the warning and stopped in front of the dugout, as we waited for the other runners to get onto the field as well.
IMG_0712 copy
IMG_0723 copy
We were with Bryanne the entire time, who decided to take a Billy Martin-style photo in front of the dugout.
IMG_0724 copy
We got started at 9am, beginning at home plate on the field and running along the right field side of the warning track towards the center field tunnel. We exited the tunnel into the Coliseum parking lot, where we ran until reaching 66th Avenue, which was of course closed off. We went from 66th avenue to Oakport Street, which led us to a side street bringing us out along the San Leandro Bay. We ran back towards 66th Avenue, where we essentially retraced our path, heading back to the Coliseum Parking lot. Instead of going back where we had come from, we ran into the parking lot and turned right, doing a small loop that had us cross the finish line. Here are a couple of maps with poorly-drawn lines to give you an idea of the route.
RunningMap
In case you are curious, my official time was 27 minutes and 56 seconds. Fun!

I finished about 5 minutes ahead of Pascale, who finished in front other friends, including Bryanne, Dave and Carlos (Carlos was literally the last person to start the race). We took lots of pictures, including this selfie with Bryanne and Dave.
IMG_0929 copy
And then Bryanne, Carlos, Pascale and I took a photo with the A’s Hall of Fame racing mascots.
IMG_0934 copy
After the post-race festivities, which included snacks and a souvenir shirt, we headed up to our usual Gate, Gate MM to get in line. Since the race had started on the field and a night game had been played the day before, I did not expect there to be Batting Practice. However, once the gates opened at 11, I was surprised to run inside and see the A’s hitting!
IMG_0952 copy
On a side note, my dad took this really cool picture of the new LED ribbon boards on his way in.
IMG_0961 copy
I was shut out during A’s BP, but I did snag a couple balls during Mariners BP.
IMG_1040 copy
The first was a tossup from a Mariners player that I could not identity, the next ball was a tossup in left field from Mariners reliever Danny Farquhar.
IMG_1098 copy
I ended BP with the balls and considering the run beforehand and the surprise of BP, I was 100% okay with this.
IMG_9961
I usually sit anywhere in the front row of 149 from seat 16 on the aisle to seat 12, but something told me this game that I should switch things up. Since Amanda’s fiancé, James, wasn’t going to be at the game, I took his normal seat, the seat next to her, seat 9. Pascale was in seat 8 and Will, who showed up late, sat in his normal 7.

On the mound for this game was Sonny Gray, who was making his second start of the season.
IMG_1241 copy
He was pitching fine until Dustin Ackeley stepped to the plate for the Mariners to lead off the top of the 3rd. I had just taken a picture to post in Instagram and I had my cowbell beater in my other hand, so I did not have my glove when his at bat began. All of a sudden, this happened…

And then I posted this picture on Twitter.
IMG_9964
Yup. I snagged Dustin Ackley’s home run! And I didn’t just snag it, I caught it on the fly! What a moment! I immediately sat down, but most everyone was yelling at me to throw the ball back, since it was a visiting team home run. Thankfully, the people that know me well, like Will, Ross, Amanda and Carlos were all super supportive of me and the catch. There was one person, however that was not at all supportive: A’s right fielder Cody Ross. When I didn’t throw it back, he started staring up at me. I’m dead serious. I didn’t notice it until Will and Amanda pointed it out to me. He had his hands on his hips and a look of disgust on his face. He even turned back around every few pitches for the rest of the inning to see if I would throw it back. Of course, I did not.

After my phone was done blowing up with congratulations, I decided to go with my mom to purchase a cheap ball cube for it. When I got back to the bleachers, I found MLB.com Cut4 reporter Alex Espinosa waiting for me. He asked to interview me, so we went up the stairs, where we had a short conversation, which you can watch below.
In addition, the interview was integrated into an MLB.com Cut4 article about me, which you can see below. Click on that screen grab to read the piece.

When Ackley came up to bat in the 8th inning, I had my dad take a picture of the scoreboard.
IMG_9966
After the game, I was finally able to pose for a picture with the ball.
IMG_9970
WOW! What an insane day! I ran a 5K and snagged 3 balls, one of which was my first ever GAME HOME RUN. What a weekend.

4/12/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (0 balls)

Unfortunately, I don’t have a whole lot to say about this game, seeing as I did not snag any balls. I went to this game by myself, so I did not have my dad’s camera. In fact, I didn’t really take any pictures on my phone either, so I don’t have anything to share about this game. It was Little League Day, which meant no Batting Practice and no opportunities to snag balls before the game. It’s okay though! Let’s move on to the next game, shall we?

4/17/15 at Banner Island Ballpark (1 ball)

It was my golden birthday! Today was April 17th and it was my 17th birthday! In my family, it is a tradition that on your birthday, you get to choose where the family goes out to eat for a meal that day. Since I had school during the day, dinner was the only option. But I didn’t want to go to a restaurant for dinner. I wanted to go to the ballpark for dinner!

The A’s were not in town this weekend, they were in Kansas City, so I figured that Stockton would be the next best option. However, my high school baseball team, who I am the PA Announcer for, had a game at 4pm, so I would not be able to make it to Stockton for Batting Practice. After the game, I received these cupcakes from the sister of one of the players. They were delicious!
IMG_0074

After the high school game ended, my family piled in the car and headed off to Stockton. Unfortunately, we didn’t arrive until the 4th inning, but that was okay! Once we arrived, we headed to our usual section in Stockton, Section 107, where we joined up with Will in the front row.
IMG_0078

Shortly after we arrived, Visalia Rawhide hitter Jamie Westbrook dribbled a foul ball right towards us in the front row, which I was able to scoop up. Yay!
IMG_0076

I don’t have many other pictures, so I will just share these two pictures of Ports players that my dad took.
IMG_4028 copy
IMG_4059 copy

This wasn’t an incredibly eventful game, I was not able to snag anything else, but it was nice to enjoy a game on my birthday with my family and Will!

4/18/15 at Banner Island Ballpark (8 balls)

During the offseason, I had a conversation with Ross about potentially having an Oakland Bleacher gathering at a Stockton Ports game. Eventually, we decided upon this day. A ton of people in the right and left field bleachers from Oakland bought tickets for Section 107 in Stockton. We brought our drums and cowbells, along with our chants and enthusiasm. It was shaping up to be a fun game.

My family got to Banner Island Ballpark around 4:45, after BP had already started. I immediately ran out to the dirt field behind the stadium in the left field area.
IMG_4085 copy

When I arrived, I was excited to see a familiar face in fellow ballhawk Ryan Dalton. IMG_4101 copy

Ports batting practice was underway and I did manage to snag a ball. It was a home run that left the stadium, but I am not sure who hit it.
IMG_4116 copy

The stadium gates opened at 5:45, which I was really excited about. Usually, minor league stadiums open an hour before game time, after BP has ended, but the Ports open their doors 15 minutes earlier than normal on Saturdays, which means that I can run around inside for the end of BP! Ryan and I raced to the outfield berm when gates opened. I ended up patrolling the area in right field, while he took the berm more towards center field. He ended up snagging a couple of easter eggs out in that area. IMG_4202

In total, I snagged 4 balls inside during batting practice, all of them were home runs. I came close to several others, but there was a lot of competition. My dad got some cool photos of me during BP, but there was one sequence of photos that stood out to me. There was a deep fly ball that was headed my way. I tracked it like I would any other home run ball, the only different being the inflatable slide behind me. Once I realized the slide was there, I lost focus on the ball. I have labeled the pictures in order, 1-4, so that you can follow the sequence of events.
IMG_4226

No I did not get the ball. No I did not push the kid or try and take the ball from him. Once I saw him go after it, I backed off. Batting Practice ended around 6pm, so I had an hour to kill before the game started. IMG_4270 copy

I eventually made my way to our seats in Section 107, right next to the visitor’s dugout. While over there, I ran into fellow right field bleacher dweller Steph and her son Brennon. Brennon is super cool, so I had to hook him up with his first ever California League ball, one of the ones I got during BP!
IMG_4271 copy

Several other RF Bleacher folks were already there as well, including Bryanne, Ross, Adam and Amber! IMG_4299 copy

And of course, the one and only Will MacNeil!
IMG_4322 copy

Speaking of Will, here is a picture he took of me shortly before the game started. IMG_4300 copy

Here was my view for the game itself!
IMG_4323 copy

Starting on the mound for the ports was Dillon Overton. IMG_4371 copy

My first ball of the game itself was a 3rd-out ball from Visalia outfielder Fidel Pena. However, I spent most of the first few innings of the game in the parking lot outside.
IMG_4373 copy

That picture was taken by Ross!

My waiting outside eventually paid off, as I was able to snag a Beau Taylor foul ball. Later in the game, I snagged my 8th ball of the day, a foul ball off the bat of Ports outfielder B.J. Boyd. Moments after I snagged the ball, a woman came running out towards me. She asked if she could have the ball. I was confused at first, so I said no. Then she pulled out and showed me her driver’s license and told her that she was B.J. Boyd’s mother. Of course, I handed her the ball, at which point she thanked me, gave me a hug and walked back inside the ballpark. Very cool! In the later innings, I spent some time playing the drum.IMG_4372 copy

Throughout the game, we were playing the drums and cowbells to the beats and in the same situations that we normally do in Oakland. For the player-specific chants, we would change the names. For Beau Taylor, we did the “Yo” chant that we used to do for Yoenis Cespedes. Instead of “I Believe in Stephen Vogt,” we did “I Believe in B.J. Boyd.” For J.P. Sportman, we used our Billy Butler chant. It was a fun night.

The Ports won the game 7-6, on a walk-off sacrifice fly from J.P. Sportman. It was a good game! Afterwards, Bryanne took this group selfie.
IMG_4375 copy

So many bleacher creatures were there, it was an incredibly fun game! To add to the fun, there were post-game fireworks! IMG_0097

I had an absolute blast at this game, snagging 8 balls and getting to sit with the awesome bleacher people.

4/25/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (0 balls)

I’m going to preface this with the fact that I went into the game not intending to ballhawk. Instead, I had one goal on my mind: to meet former Oakland reliever and current Astros pitcher Pat Neshek! Pat has been a favorite of mine for a long time, but I had never gotten the chance to get his autograph or take a picture with him, so I was pretty excited for the potential chance. I got to the stadium around 9:30 or so, which meant there was plenty of time to kill. While I did not participate, Adam, Britt and Alex played some catch in the plaza area outside our gate.

People like Will, Amanda and myself just hung around and talked.
IMG_6688 copy

Once the gates opened and we had set our stuff down in our seats, Amanda, Kimberlee, Tom and I headed down to area near the visitor’s bullpen, where Pat Neshek was warming up. Tom and I spent some time talking with our friend Mark, who is the security guard in the area near the away bullpen. IMG_6762 copy

Once he was done playing catch, Pat came over to our group. First, he signed a ball for Amanda, then he signed a shirt and ball for Kimberlee. He also took photos with each of them.
IMG_6841 copy

Pat then moved on to me, where he graciously singed my flag (with the number he wore in Oakland) and a Cardinals shirsey of his that I had purchased. IMG_6855 copy

Here is his signature on the flag.
IMG_6857 copy

And here is his signature and inscription on the shirt. IMG_6856 copy

How cool is that inscription??? I didn’t even ask him to write that, he did it on his own! Pat is without a doubt one of, if not the most fan-friendly player I have ever interacted with.

After I got his autograph, he took a picture with me.
IMG_6869 copy

Tom took the pictures of us with Pat on his camera. Here is the one of me and Pat! IMG_6870

Such a neat experience!

As far as the game goes, it was fun. I got to watch Kendall Graveman pitch.
IMG_6974 copy

And I got to see the Major League debut of Max Muncy. IMG_7201 copy

For me, that was really special because he was one of the first players I ever saw play in Stockton. In fact, I even got to meet him on April 21st, 2013. Even better, I got to take two pictures with him! I took a selfie with him and a picture with catcher Ryan Delgado, Will and Vanessa.

The other thing I would like to share from this game would be this picture that my dad took.
IMG_6983 copy

I just thought it was kinda cool!

4/26/15 at the Oakland Coliseum (2 balls)

This was my final game in the month of April and it was very fun! After I set my stuff down in Right Field after the gates opened, I went down to the A’s bullpen area, where I was able to snag a tossup from Evan Scribner. I also took this picture with Sonny Gray! IMG_8741 copy

After taking the picture with Sonny Gray, I hustled over to the Astros bullpen area, where reliever Joe Thatcher tossed me a ball. Unfortunately though, it was not one of the commemorative balls that the Astros used in 2015. Still very cool though! Here are my two balls from the day.
IMG_8742 copy

Once I was back in Right Field, I took a picture with Will, Adam, Ross and Bryanne, as we were all wearing white jerseys in honor of “Wedding Gown White Sundays.” And yes, there is a filter on this picture. IMG_8743 copy

When the A’s first moved to Oakland, the A’s wore their “Wedding Gown White” jerseys exclusively on Sundays.

Since there was no BP, I had a fair bit of free time before the game started, some of which featured me and Will goofing around.

Drew Pomeranz was the A’s starting pitcher in this game. IMG_8915 copy

When Josh Reddick came up to bat in the bottom of the second inning, I was featured on the A’s TV broadcast waving my flag. The main reason I was shown though was because Kimberlee was holding up a WWE Title belt, since Josh is a huge WWE fan.

Reddick then proceeded to hit an RBI Triple. In between the 3rd and 4th innings, my dad got this really cool sequence of photos. Hopefully you can follow the order. Untitled-1

A’s Manager Bob Melvin was arguing a call with the home plate umpire Quinn Wolcott and as you can see from the pictures above, he was ejected.

While this isn’t when he his his triple, here is another cool picture my dad took of Josh Reddick hitting.

Wow! April was such a fun month. I don’t even know what else to say. Well I guess I should say thank you because this entry was over 5,000 words. So THANK YOU very much for taking the time to read this! My next post will be about the games I attended in May. In May, I went to 10 A’s games and 2 Ports games, so the entry will be jam packed with lots of stories and pictures.

As always, thanks again for reading and stay awesome!
