Mail Time! #23

Sorry for not having posted in a while! I’ve been so busy, plus I haven’t gotten too many packages these past few weeks

Today, I have 3 Fan Packs to show you.

The first of these is from the Miami Marlins20130304-235858.jpg

I first pulled out a 2013 pocket schedule20130304-235904.jpg

Followed by a letter20130304-235910.jpg

And a paper printout roster20130304-235916.jpg

I next found this logo sticker20130304-235922.jpg

And brochures as to how to get a Marlins license plate20130304-235928.jpg

And join the Marlins Fan Club (Which is actually a pretty cool deal if you ask me! I *might* get it)20130304-235937.jpg

After that, I pulled out these three player photo cards20130304-235943.jpg

Lastly, I pulled out this magnetic schedule. I love the Marlins new logo (AND HR Thingy), and I love bright colors- So I loved this magnetic schedule.20130304-235949.jpg

The next Fan Pack is from the Nebraska Corn Huskers20130304-235957.jpg

Inside, I found 2 football stickers20130305-000018.jpg

A baseball pocket schedule20130305-000023.jpg

And two LARGE posters20130305-000029.jpg20130305-000534.jpg

The final fan pack I have will BLOW YOU AWAY

I now know why the Houston Astros can’t afford any good players. They put all of their money into fan packs for their Minor-A Team. Here is the BOX that the Tri-City Valley Cats sent me20130305-000542

On the top, I found this team photo20130305-000549.jpg

A 2013 wall calendar20130305-000555.jpg

I then pulled out this card20130305-000601.jpg

And this sticker20130305-000607.jpg

The next item I pulled out was this small box (2 inches wide for reference)20130305-000612.jpg

I opened it up and BAM! I found this miniature replica NYPL Championship trophy!20130305-000618.jpg

This was the final item I pulled out of the box. A bobblehead box????20130305-000624.jpg

I opened it up to find this!20130305-000630.jpg

A Derek Jeter bobblehead?? How cool is that!?!?!

Wow… This was one of my best ever Mail Time entries, would you agree?

Thanks for reading!

Videos of the Day

So yesterday I did pictures of the day. Today, videos of the day…
Let’s start off with the Miami Marlins song…

Now this next video I love. it is this kid who totally ca calls a Josh Willingham Home Run.

So the next two videos come from fellow MLBlogger and ballhawk Erik Jabs. He writes the MLBlog Counting Baseballs. Go check it out. But anyways, for the past 10 weeks or so he has been giving away MLB shirts and 2 weeks ago, I came very close to winning. Here is the intital video:

Then, if you watched that video (which I hope you did) this video follows…

Now this last video is of me ALMOST catching a home run at the A’s game on 9/2/11 if you rememberm where I got to meet Zack Hample. If you read the post, you know how frustrated I got because the usher would NOT let me get out of my seat. It pissed me off. I almost caught it, it landed abotu 5 feet behind me. And the hot chocoalte vendor ran off with the ball… Unfortunatly, I guess I cannot embed the video in because “Your browser does not support iframes.” Click here to see the video…

Thats all for now. I won’t have a new post up tommorrow because I have a baseball game and nothing up Thursday-Saturday because I am attending a state Leadership confrence in Costa Mesa with my Leadership class. After that, my family may either stay in LA or fly back down to LA for Spring Break. And yeah, go to some baseball games. I might got to a Dodgers-Angels exhibition game and potentally the Padres Opening Day. So we will se how this goes for now! Oh, and yeah, I will get up early tommorrow and Thursday to listen to the A’s games. They will also be rebroadcast on MLB Network sometime during the day. So stay tuned!

And in a 2007 ALCS rematch, the Red Sox will take the series in 4 games due to the stellar offense from the Red Sox.
NLDS:
In an NLCS rematch, the Phillies prove to be too strong for the Giants and take the series in 3 – sweeping the Giants.
And the Brewers continue their hot streak and amazing pitching to overtake the Brewers in 5 games.

ALCS:
The Rangers and Red Sox battle it out in a battle of power, the Red Sox take the series in 7, advancing to the fall classic.
NLCS:
The Pitching-strong Brewers will battle head-to-head with the Phillies, and in a surprise upset, Fielder, Braun, Weeks, and Grienke beat the Phillies in 7 games to advance to the fall classic.

WORLD SERIES!
The Red Sox and Brewers will battle hard, both teams with lots of power, but the Brewers pitching will beat Josh Beckett and the Red Sox in 6 games.

And there you have it, folks. Those are my predictions. Yeah, so, um. At the end of the playoffs, you people can comment on any of my posts and let me know how wrong I got everything.

6/28/11 at O.co Coliseum

First of all, I want to thank my dad for a) taking time off of work to do this with me; b) buying tickets for thr Doubleheader; c) waiting out the rain delay; and d) being generally awesome in supporting me in this.
I left my house at 5:00 to be there for the 7:05 game, despite all the rain in the Bay Area. My dad and I got tickets for another game and then entered the Coliseum. I mean the O.co Coliseum, sorry. And it was a Free Parking Tuesday. Sorry, I mean Chevy Freey Parking Tuesday…

Well, when I got inside, and looked on the field, this is what I saw:

Oh, Joy! The tarp was being put on the field.

A few minutes later, the tarp is on:

The tarp was on the field and it was 6:15. Thing were not looking good for me and my dad. Nobody was on the field except for the groundscrew, so no chance toget any ball or autographs. I headed to hte team store to get a 2011 A’s yearbook, this was my first A’s game of the year, and then went back to check on the field. Still, a tarp.

Still tarped on. I went to get a burger from thsi awesome place at the coliseum called the Burger Shack. Best double cheeeseburger ever! (Other than In-n-Out, of course!) I watched from the LF foul pole. Then, off for the fish n chips for my dad. By that time, it was 6:45 and the game stars in 20 minutes. We went to sit in some random seats adn watched them start to take off the tarp:

Then, we went over to our real seats and watched them take the tarp off. Eventually the tarp was off, sometime around 7 o’clockish:

Then we spent 75 Minutes listening to 2 men siting a few rows behind us yell at the groundskeepers for not doing their job and how they were fired and a bunch of other crap. THe groundskeepers were doing 3 main things: 1) shoveling water out of the outfield; 2)spreading dry dirt on the infield and mixing it in with the wet dirt; and 3)standing next to the tarp for no good reason, as seen in the picture above.

Finally the game started at 8:17 or something like that and the first batter of the game, Emilio Bonifacio singled, and it was the ONLY hit the Marlins got in the entire game! Because of my seats, I was in a horrible ballhawking spot. Then, I realized in about the second inning that there were about 7 foul balls that had landed in the section 2 sections away. Of course no more foul balls came to us there for the rest of the game.

In the bottom of the the 7th, some kind man came up to my dad and I and asked if we wanted to sit in the first row right behind the A’s dugout. He was some awesome old guy that was leaving. My dad and I took the tickets and SCORE! We sat behind the dugout for the rest of the game.

Our view was amazing, we were sitting on the aisle and I was pounding on the top of the dugout. Gio was pitching amazing and yeah. After the A’s finished warming up in the top of the 8th, and Tye Waller threw me a warm-up ball.

Waller

My first ball of the day! I was just so glad that I didn’t get shut out and got at least one ball.

The game ended and the A’s won 1-0. Good day. I stayed around to see if I could get an more balls or get Kur Suzuki’s autograph, he was doing a postgame interview with Comcast SportsNet California. It was so cool, we could hear Kurt Talking, answering questions and it was awesome.

Then the ushers got mad at us for still being there and made us leave. Overall, good day!

Preview for 6/28/11

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011
O.Co Coliseum- Oakland, California
Florida Marlins @ Oakland Athletics
Game time: 7:05 PT

I am going to the A’s game today in Oakland, and at this point, I juts want the rain to stop.

Here is the A’s lineup for today’s game:
1. Weeks 2B
2. Penn. SS
3. Crisp CF
4. Matsui DH
5. Jackson 1B
6. Sweeney LF
7. Suzuki C
8. DeJesus RF
9. Sizemore 3B
Gio Gonzalez, LHP
6-5, 2.59 ERA
Gonzalez recorded his fourth straight quality start his last time out. He hurled seven innings of one-run ball and held the Mets to four hits while striking out eight and walking one. Over his last two starts, Gonzalez has fanned 18 and walked three.

Here is the Marlins lineup for today’s game:
1. Bonifacio LF
2. Infante 2B
3. Sanchez 1B
4. Ramirez SS
5. Stanton RF
6. Lopez 3B
7. Morrison DH
8. Buck C
9. Wise CF
Javier Vazquez, RHP
4-7, 6.37 ERA
Vazquez snapped a three-game losing streak in his last start after pitching 5 1/3 scoreless innings against the Angels. He struck out four and did not issue a walk for the second time this season. Vazquez is 5-3 with a 4.36 ERA against the A’s.

The A’s will probably wear the Gold Jerseys because Gio is pitching.

And let me just say, today is a Chevy Free Parking Tuesday at the O.co Coliseum, and that is about the only reason I am going. I can’t wait for the game, and will take lots of pics and blog when I get home, or tommorrow morning.

Los Angeles Angels of Aneheim @ Oakland Athletics
Game time: 1:05 PT, TBD PT

The Angels are in Oakland and this is a special weekend. It’s 80’s weekend. Duh! I am going to the doubleheader on Satuday. How cool is that? I might also go to 80’s day with an MC Hammer Bobblehead. Stay Tuned..

I might also go to two or three more games.
August 13th in Oakland vs. the Rangers is a possibility.
I might also get to meet the beastly ballhawk Zack Hample in Oakland on September 2nd and maybe September 3rd in San Fran. If you want to know where he is headed, he recently updated his blog with info on his quest for 1,000 balls this year and all 30 MLB stadiums this year.
I will update more. Stay Tuned. So long from my house somewhere on the earth…
